USPA Nationwide Security steps up Armed Ship Security as Somali pirates release last three hostages as armed men attack Panama-flagged ship
September 10, 2020 // BOSASO, Somalia/NAIROBI, Kenya – Somali pirates released 3 Iranian hostages who were held for an outrageous five years. Fear of further kidnappings in the region have caused shipping companies to secure their ships with armed ship security officers. USPA Nationwide Security’s Maritime Security Division, already operating in the region, has taken on several new contracts to protect ships and their crew as they navigate the water around Somalia.
Was this an end to an era of pirate attacks? Not even close. Instead, 6 armed pirates hijacked the Panama-flagged Aegean II late Wednesday after it had engine problems, a regional governor in Somalia said. Accordingly, shipping companies have increased the presence of Maritime Security to thwart further attacks.
