Just days after Thompson’s murder, a chillingly similar act occurred in Muskegon, Michigan. Erik Denslow, president of Anderson Express Inc., was stabbed during a staff meeting by an employee, Nathan Mahoney. Police are investigating whether the stabbing was inspired by the Thompson killing.
“We’re exploring the possibility of a copycat crime,” said Deputy Chief Greg Poulson. “The suspect’s social media and electronic devices are under review to determine motives.”
Denslow, currently in critical condition, is expected to survive. Mahoney has been charged with assault with intent to murder and is being held on $500,000 bond.

One TikTok comment read, “Denied coverage? Denied sympathy,” garnering over 15,000 likes. Another Instagram user posted, “Does he have a history of shootings? Denied coverage,” in a grim parody of the insurance industry’s practices.

Security experts warn that these incidents represent a seismic shift in workplace safety concerns. Michael Evans, a nationally recognized security expert and keynote speaker, emphasized the urgent need for comprehensive risk assessments and executive protection plans.
