“Whether it’s a high-profile exhibition like the YSL event or a corporate-sponsored gallery like American Express Platinum, the security challenges are similar,” Edwards explained. “We need to protect high-profile individuals and ensure that the event proceeds smoothly, even with the constant possibility of security threats.”

While USPA did not provide security for Taylor Swift’s tour, Edwards uses it as a framework to explain the complex nature of securing large-scale public events. Swift’s concerts, which consistently sold-out massive venues, required intensive planning and coordination between multiple security agencies. The proactive measures taken for Swift’s safety—ranging from extensive threat assessments to on-site personal security—serve as a template for how to approach security at Art Basel.
“The Swift tour showed us the importance of identifying risks early and deploying rapid-response teams,” Edwards said. “These are the same principles we’ll apply at Art Basel.”
