The problem

Student safety anxieties rising due to poorly lit areas on a sprawling urban campus.

The solution

A student-facing mobile blue light app integrated with localized golf-cart security patrols and GPS tracking.

An urban campus never closes, and its anxiety concentrates after dark in the gaps between lit quads. Students who avoided those gaps were, in effect, paying a hidden tax on their own education.

The escort program made help a four-minute constant. Usage data doubled as a lighting survey, and the routes students avoided became routes the university re-lit. Anxiety followed the data downward.

Four minutes to an escort, data to fix the dark corners.

Inside the deployment

Blue light app

One tap requests an escort and shows the student the approaching vehicle on a map.

GPS patrol dispatch

The nearest tracked cart is assigned automatically, without call-center guesswork.

Lighting gap surveys

Patrol data identified the darkest corridors, which the university then re-lit.
