Event Security in practice
Event coverage starts with a plan rather than a headcount. USPA reviews the venue layout, expected attendance, ticket and credential scheme, alcohol service and the local police or fire requirements, then proposes posts, patrol routes and relief rotations that keep officers alert through the full run of show.
On site, officers run access points, screen bags where the event calls for it, manage entry and egress flow, and report through a single command post so the promoter, venue manager and responding agencies all work from the same picture.
Staffing and post assignment
Coverage plans scaled to attendance, sightlines, entry points and the timing of peak arrival and egress.
Credentialed access control
Vendor, VIP and general admission lanes with screening procedures matched to the event's own policy.
Command post integration
Radio coordination with venue management, production and local law enforcement or fire service.
Egress and crowd management
Controlled exits, queue management and post-event sweeps before the site is handed back.

In the business of high-profile events, partnering with a skilled, capable security team is the single most critical vendor need. I'd put money on any leadership-level person in the security business also telling you it's THE hardest job to resource. Hiring reliable, effective guards to work 12-16hr days in suits and dress shoes who can and will maintain their poise, professionalism, remain mentally sharp, and stay capable of making tactful, fast decisions with hundreds sometimes thousands of people looking for opportunities and vulnerabilities in their team's coverage is damn near impossible. But when a security team hires and relies on leads once tasked with securing and providing protection for the United States of America on a global level and at scales none of us commoners even have clearance to learn about, I know I'm in good hands. My trusted colleagues at USPA are former special agents and marines and combat veterans (who were WILDLY successful and we live more peacefully because they did their jobs so well), former secret service agents, the list goes on... They also dedicate their time to finding and bringing home victims of domestic abuse and unspeakable violence when they go missing or are in harm's way. These are good humans. TLDR: USPA is world-class and I don't hesitate to reach out to them as soon as I know I'll need their team on one of my projects. Mike Evans, Mike Edwards, Brian Fitzgibbons, and Dan Manning are this industry's very best. Their onsite leads (shoutout Adam, Rodney, etc.) and partnering firms (Rich, Johnny, etc.) consistently deliver the highest possible quality service in any market. They are dedicated, compassionate people with good hearts. They never fail to put me at ease from the minute they arrive. You will not regret this hire!

Questions clients ask before booking
- How many security guards do I need for my event?
- The number follows the plan: attendance, the number and layout of entry points, sightlines, alcohol service and the venue's own requirements all move it. USPA reviews those factors and proposes posts, patrol routes and relief rotations sized to the run of show rather than quoting a headcount first. Request a quote with the venue and expected attendance.
- How much does event security cost?
- Pricing depends on the number of officers, the hours including setup and teardown, and any specialized roles such as supervisors, medics or drivers. Multi-day and recurring events are usually quoted on a schedule rather than per shift. The quote itemizes posts so the organizer can see what each part of the plan costs.
- Do you provide security for private events?
- Yes. Private functions, galas, weddings, corporate receptions and VIP gatherings are staffed with the same access control and command post structure as public events, scaled down. Guest list enforcement and discretion matter more at private events, and officers are briefed on the host's expectations before doors open.
- What happens if there is an incident during the event?
- Officers report through a single command post so the promoter, venue manager and responding agencies work from the same picture. The plan written before the event covers escalation to local police or fire service, medical response and controlled egress, so decisions on the night follow a procedure rather than improvisation.
- Do you provide medics at events?
- Yes. USPA provides private EMTs and event medics who stand by on site and coordinate with local EMS for anything above their scope of practice. Medical standby keeps a small incident from becoming a security incident, and venues and insurers often require it for larger gatherings.
- How far in advance should event security be booked?
- Two to four weeks allows for a site visit and a written staffing plan; larger public events benefit from earlier planning around permits and police coordination. Shorter notice is workable for smaller private functions, and rush requests are handled through dispatch when the event is days away.
Need coverage now?
Dispatch and quoting are answered 24 hours a day. Licensing, insurance certificates and a written scope are issued with the quote.
