Event Medical Support in practice
Medical standby keeps a small incident small. USPA provides emergency medical technicians and event medics for sporting events, festivals, private functions and worksites, positioned where the crowd is dense and access for a stretcher is difficult.
Medics work to their state certification and coordinate with the local EMS system for anything above their scope of practice, with a written post-event record of care provided and transports initiated.

Questions clients ask before booking
- Can I hire a private EMT for an event?
- Yes. USPA provides certified emergency medical technicians and event medics for sporting events, festivals, private functions and worksites. Medics are positioned where the crowd is dense and stretcher access is difficult, and they work to their state certification with a documented handoff to local EMS for anything above their scope of practice.
- How many medics does my event need?
- The number follows attendance, the layout, the activity's injury profile and any venue or insurer requirements. A single medic covers a smaller function; larger festivals and tournaments are staffed with multiple medics positioned at high-density points. The recommendation comes with the quote once the event details are known.
- What is the difference between an EMT and a paramedic?
- Scope of practice. Paramedics can administer a wider range of medications and advanced airway interventions; EMTs provide first aid, basic life support and transport preparation. Both coordinate with the local EMS system for care beyond their scope, and USPA staffs the certification level the event and its insurer call for.
- Do your medics coordinate with local EMS?
- Yes. The plan identifies the local EMS response route before doors open, and medics document every patient contact, treatment provided and transport decision. If a 911 transport is needed, the handoff is clean because the responding crew receives a written account rather than a verbal one.
- Do you provide medical coverage for sports leagues?
- Yes. Tournaments and leagues use event medics for participants and spectators, with coverage positioned along the field of play and at spectator areas. Season and league arrangements are quoted on a schedule, and they pair naturally with event security for venues that need both.
- What records are provided after the event?
- A written post-event summary of incidents treated, patients transferred and equipment used. The record gives organizers and insurers documentation of the medical response, and it reflects the same discipline applied to every USPA assignment: what happened is written down.
